Blog Analysis

A few weeks ago, I analyzed a blog called Honest Fare

This blog is run by Gabrielle Arnold, who also owns a business called “La Empanada Food Truck”. She first made this blog in February 2009 and she mainly posts things related to food recipes, her personal life, and sometimes her business.

As you can see in this picture, she shares recipes of homemade meals and on the right side is an advertisement of aprons she produced which are available on this same website. What I liked about her blog was that every picture is so beautiful that they stimulate my appetite and that there was always a recipe in case you were interested in making it on your own.

The voice of the blogger is conversational and she talks as if she is talking to her friends. This makes us readers feel closer to the blogger and makes the recipe seem easier to make than when it is written formally. In her posts, she uses text and photos and the ratio between them is about 4:6.

Through her posts, there was no social, political, or ethical message so this is a place for the community's interaction. An example of this is the comment section which is set at the bottom of the page and readers can leave a comment on each post.

The content of this blog is mostly about simple healthy food and its preparation. The articles are divided into eight categories and five of them are posts with recipes.

Overall, my impression of the blog was that it was very easy to find what I want to see and each recipe was simple. It was organized neatly and the pictures of food were very attractive. However, if I think it would be much easier to find articles if all of the posts could be found in one page.
